What To Expect:
Bringing veterinary care directly to your home is designed to be simple, convenient, and stress-free. Here's what to expect:
1. Request an Appointment
There are several ways to get started:
Complete our online appointment request form
Call and leave a message with our AI receptionist
Send us a text message or email
To provide an accurate estimate, please include:
Your pet's name, age, breed, sex, and approximate weight
The services you are requesting
The complete address where the appointment will take place
Contact information
If your pet has been seen by another veterinarian, please either send us their medical records or provide the name of the previous veterinary clinic so we can request them. This allows us to review your pet's history, determine which vaccines or preventive care may be due, and allows Dr. Swan to review any previous medical problems prior to your appointment.
2. Scheduling Your Appointment
A member of our team will contact you to review your request and schedule your visit.
Appointments are scheduled in 2-hour arrival windows between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Weekend, holiday, and after-hours appointments may be available for an additional fee, depending on Dr. Swan's availability.
Because we travel throughout the Greater Houston area, exact arrival times cannot be guaranteed due to traffic and unexpected circumstances that may arise during earlier appointments.
3. Reserve Your Appointment
A deposit equal to the house call fee/mileage is required for all new clients to reserve an appointment.
Your deposit is fully refundable if your appointment is canceled or rescheduled with at least 24 business hours' notice.
If no one is present when we arrive for your scheduled appointment, the deposit will be forfeited.
You will also receive a New Client Consent Form to complete before your appointment.
4. Appointment Confirmation
The day before your appointment, you'll receive a text message asking you to confirm your visit.
On the day of your appointment, we will contact you when we are on our way, typically providing 20–30 minutes' notice before arrival.
5. Preparing for Your Visit
To help your appointment run smoothly, please:
Clear a comfortable area inside your home where your pet can be examined.
We are also happy to work on patios or in garages when weather permits.
Please note that we do not examine patients inside our vehicle, as it is not a fully equipped mobile clinic.
For everyone's safety:
Secure aggressive pets before our arrival.
Keep pets that are not being seen confined and away from the examination area.
If your pet has shown aggressive behavior or if you are unable or unwilling to assist with gentle restraint during the examination, please let us know when scheduling. Dr. Swan typically works independently and may need to arrange for an assistant to accompany her.
Honest communication helps us prepare appropriately and keeps both your pet and our team safe.
6. Payment
Final payment is due at the completion of your appointment.
Payment can be made through a secure text payment link or by using the credit card stored on file from your deposit.
We currently accept:
Credit Cards (3% processing fee)
Cash
Venmo
Zelle
We do not accept checks.
Balances remaining unpaid more than 24 hours after your appointment may be subject to additional fees.
7. After Your Appointment
Your medical records are typically completed and emailed by the end of the day. Lab results can take up to 72 business hours. This email will include any applicable:
Medical records
Vaccine certificates
Laboratory results (when available)
Additional discharge instructions or attachments
8. Ongoing Care
Once your pet has been examined, they become an established patient.
Pets that have been seen by Dr. Swan within the previous 12 months may be eligible for telehealth consultations for certain medical concerns, medication follow-ups, and other appropriate conditions. This allows many questions and minor issues to be addressed without the need for another house call whenever medically appropriate.
